SOFT PASTEL ARTIST & EDUCATOR

 Hi, I’m Jeanne Cotter.My creative journey has evolved alongside my life experiences and my career in Graphic Design and Visual Merchandising. Art has always been a grounding force for me—a way to express my creativity.   

Working primarily in soft pastels, I am drawn to the immediacy and expressive exploration of the medium. Each painting is a personal response to the beauty I find in native Australian flora and landscapes. I am endlessly inspired by the interplay of light and colour, and I strive to create works that invite the viewer to pause, zoom in, reflect, and connect with the natural world. Today, I balance my studio art practice with a love for teaching, connecting, and building community.

Teaching and Community

I am deeply committed to nurturing the local arts scene. I host art classes and workshops for adult beginners in my Delicious Art home studio and other regional locations as requested. I tutor at McGregor Summer School at the University of Southern Queensland and, with my ‘arty partner’ and friend, Cindy MacDonald, I run Drawn Away Art Retreats in Australia and Italy.

I love creating opportunities and volunteer at Pittsworth Art Group to manage, book and arrange Art Workshops for members.


In 2023, I co-founded the Toowoomba Studio Art Trail. Now, every September and in alignment with the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, we invite selected local artists to open their private home studios to the public. This has been an exciting initiative and is growing bigger and better every year.

Beyond the Studio

I’m a mum to three grown adults and a proud "Nanny" to Ruby. Alongside my husband, I call the beautiful city of Toowoomba, Queensland, home.
